About your guide

My name is Hnin Le Khaing. This translates as ‘the lady who is soft like snow and bright with a strong mind.’ Some foreigners call me by my initials, HLK, until they are comfortable pronouncing my name.

I am an Independent Tour Guide, which means that I have passed examinations in the English language and have studied the history and culture of Myanmar. I finished these examinations in 2002, received a professional license, and I have been working as a guide since then.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Dagon University here in Yangon (Rangoon.) I come from a family of five, with 2 brothers, and of course, my mother and father. My family lives in Yangon and I am with them when I am not traveling around the country. We are Theravada Buddhists, as are a great majority of the Myanmar people.

I take travelers on tours of Myanmar. Every adventure is different. Some like just to visit our great cities and historical sites. Others prefer to visit undiscovered parts of the country, or just to visit our many lakes and great rivers. I am also happy to show visitors around my home city of Yangon, dominated by the awe inspiring golden stupa of the Shwedagon Pagoda.

I am here to help you have the Myanmar experience, to visit a country that the great poet Rudyard Kipling said was "Quite unlike any other land you know."
